I’ve really found myself ignoring the neutral hues of France and breaking out all my colors. Sure, maybe that screams that I’m not from here (and I’m not!). Winter white could be a break against the norm, but I want more than that! Bright colors are really what’s needed here. It’s perfect for those chilly days where I can feel the cold to my bones and I just want some sun! Why not create the warmth with fun, pretty shades? I could live with an Easter palette all year long with lots of pastel hues. Purples, pinks, greens and even oranges make me feel the happiest as spring is my favorite season. I’m deciding to get a head start on spring this year by starting my winter pastels now!
Approximately ten minutes after this shoot ended the sun disappeared and Paris turned into an ice city! I can never outwit the cold, I’m telling you. Even though this outfit was warm because it’s a maxi dress and my amazing faux-fur coat keeps me insulated…I can beat the Paris freeze! Sure…I look like I’m smiling, but inside I’m screaming “Ohmanohmanohmanohman”. I was thinking about poor Kate Upton during her Sports Illustrated photo shoot wearing a bikini in Antartica! How in the heck..I’ll never know.
Anyway, this dress is my favorite color in the entire world. It was an instant purchase! I feel there is a return to Orientalism in clothing, as seen with this dress. New designs are highly influenced by Orientalism, and I expect there to be a big shift towards it in the next few months! Because no one could survive this dress without something underneath, I wore an almost decade old (seriously-freshman year of high school) turtleneck from Old Navy. All of my turtlenecks are becoming turtle holes because lack of a dryer means for SUPER stretched out clothing. The necks no longer fit my neck, so I’ve been wearing them with a bobby pin to give it shape. I can’t wait to get home and wash my clothes just so they can return to their original shape.
Don’t you love these adorable baby blue flats? I thought they might have a higher buckle when I bought them online, but it’s just on the ankle. I love their color! When I wore this outfit, I had to take the metro. I was wearing pink, purple, and blue against a sea of blacks and navys. I got a few looks, but it’s no fun if you don’t get any looks—am I right?
