Life In A Purple Haze

In college, the sorority I pledged in had the colors of rose and white. So, there was pink. A lot of pink. The other sorority on campus was decked out in purple. One of my first memories of joining my sorority is me filling out a silly questionnaire. “Purple or pink”, one question asked. I didn’t choose pink. I’d always lived under the purple haze of the sun and the sorority wasn’t going to change that.

No, this gal has loved purple since the dawn of time. Sure, pink is pretty, but every little girl loves pink, but not me. I loved the deep, rich color of purple, like I lived in a purple haze. (Hiii Jimi Hendrix or Abita Beer) Hey, isn’t purple the color of nobility? Being an only child may have made me confused with thinking I was nouveau royalty. But, in all honesty, purple was the color that suited me. Unfortunately, there are so many pink articles of clothing you could literally build your own Barbie dream house. Not so much for purple. So when I see anything purple, you better believe it’s going in my closet. I’m living in a purple haze, baby.

Summer 2017: a purple haze? A recent purchase from European retailer had me in literal tears over a beautiful pair of high-waisted pants in my favorite.shade.ever. Lilac/lavender is SO hard to find because it’s such an exact shade and royal purple just doesn’t cut it for me. Now, it’s all over stores like Zara, H&M, and Mango. I’m ecstatic, really. It’s like the fashion gods are thinking about me. Brb, going to refill my wardrobe with lilac-only clothing…see ya in fall.

I think I once mentioned this skirt in *this* blog post. Similar to my skirt seen in this post, I actually didn’t purchase it initially. I went back to Zara days after and finally bought it. It’s been three years this summer since I found this skirt, and I’ve probably worn it at least 50 times. I’m not kidding. This skirt is a piece of clothing I wish I’d bought extra in since I wear it so often. Accctuallllly, it’s got a huge chemical burn on the front from the dry cleaners, but I refuse to give it up.It’s seriously a piece I’d buy over, and over, and over again. I think I’m going to enjoy life in a purple haze 🙂
