A girl on the run doesn’t have time to sit around and wait. In a fast-paced world, clothing shouldn’t slow you down. I did the mini skirt, and it’s tried and true. But, my true love lies in midi skirts, where I feel most comfortable. Never one to try out a fun new style, I opted for this vintage beige skirt—otherwise called as the “paper bag” skirt. With a high waist design paired with a belt to make it look like you grabbed your paper bag lunch and jet out, this skirt is one of my favorite new pieces. It’s so easy you can take it to go. Guess what? It’s vintage, too!
I found this skirt in one of my favorite vintage stores in a town outside of Raleigh, North Carolina. The waist was so big on me, but it works since it’s in the “paper bag” style! Adding a belt helps give it shape. Without it, it’s just really wide and kind of creates a gap between body and skirt—-so not cute! I may even get it slightly altered to give it a closer fit to my body without losing the paper bag aspect of the skirt, probably when I return home for Christmas break. What I dislike is how because it’s vintage, it lacks its original belt. Had the skirt still had its original belt, I feel the gap issue wouldn’t be a problem.
I’m really into men’s button down shirts lately. This is actually my boyfriend’s shirt, but I’ve been wearing it for over a year. I like to think I’ve claimed it for myself at this point! I wanted this look to be reminiscent of professional gal about town. It’s less for a night look and more for a day-to-day look. Since it needed a little bit more “French chic”, I added a silk scarf I found from Houston store, Merchant and Market, that I tied at my neck. Shoes are from Primark that were under £10 when I had a weekend visit to London. It’s funny, I just realized the jacket is a vintage find from a year or two ago visit to Raleigh that I’ve been obsessed with ever since. How funny is that! Raleigh has good vintage, if you get the chance to go.
