The Turtleneck Is The Shirt You Need Now

Be careful of what you wish for, because you just may get it. Lately, I’ve found myself remembering that phrase I love the cold weather because we never have it back home. I love a good coat and gloves, but they usually sit in my closet year-round. So, I’ve been really excited for a Parisian fall because it gets cold!

Except, it’s cold. Like, actually chilly and I can’t forgo a coat or I’m covered in goosebumps. That phrase keeps popping in my mind about how badly I wanted cold weather. Now it’s here, and I’m yelling about how chilly it is outside. Though it may be a little on the cold side, I’m secretly loving getting to use my trench coats and knee-high boots. But I am really loving the idea of a turtleneck under a dress. I was inspired after browsing Vogue’s Street Style tab. Why put away your summer dresses when you can pair with with a turtleneck and voila? You’ve got a look to take into fall with you.

This look is a little reminiscent of high school! We had the craziest dress codes. One of the rules of our dress code was the disallowance of wearing clothes that didn’t have sleeves. That meant no spaghetti straps or tank tops. However, we could wear them with a shirt underneath, so I did that very often. This reminds me of something I would have worn them. I’m almost positive I wore a turtleneck under a dress or tank. So much of my high school experience was fret over that dress code.

I love this dress so much! I think its colors are perfect for fall/winter, but since it’s silk, it’s really thin. The black turtleneck from Old Navy gives me the extra warmth I need. You don’t even have to wear a black shirt underneath, but I chose that color because it was one of the colors in the dress. To finish, I wore my favorite black clogs from MIA shoes. I love clogs so much! I didn’t bring these shoes to Paris because I’m always teetering around on them. I’m so eager to wear them over Christmas break though!
